about

this piece was originally written as a classical guitar piece, but i found myself in need of the high c# on the 21st fret, and no way to generate it. at the time, i had a full scale classical guitar, but it only had 19 frets (as is the standard). the result is that i moved the piece to the piano, and eventually turned it into a techno piece with live electric guitars. there is also a live electric guitar interpretation, as electric guitars have 21 frets *minimum*.

alternate tunings and transpositions have been examined, and are not feasible to produce the piece. recording it with overdubs would be rather silly. performing this piece really requires an extended fret board (or an extra string, or immensely large hands), there's no way around it.

that said, it would be nice to include the piece in this collection, which is otherwise rather exhaustive. i do envision myself focusing almost exclusively on classical guitar music starting in 2019 or 2020, so i will eventually have access to an extended fret board. for now, this is a placeholder for that eventuality.

about

jessica murray Windsor, Ontario

this is the archive for the artist formerly known as jason parent and now known as jessica murray.

the music here has shifted dramatically over many years, from roots in punk/grunge through to experimental synth pop and into a type of kitchen sink post-rock with heavy electronics. the only consistency throughout is a lack of consistency, guitars and an impressionist aesthetic. "blender rock".
